New grass coming in through old Today Sulu and I visited one of what might be the last off-leash options for a while, the Annursnac Conservation Land .  The developers of the Stonymeade development, a pleasant circle off Pope Road in Acton, apparently did some conservation handwaving to get their project built, because the Pope Road frontage is in conservation, Google Maps shows the inner part of the circle is in conservation, and there are woods and a field behind it in conservation too.  Sulu and I traipsed through the woods, across the field, and entered the Annursnac Conservation Land. I was looking for a new place to run Sulu but knowing I would compromise by bikejoring .  At least he gets to run, if not choose his own path and speed.  It was raining lightly so I figured those fair-weather Corona walkers would be staying home.  I parked at a conservation area close to the beginning of the Reformatory Branch rail trail - also part of the BCT! The Reformatory Branch trail is lovely for bikejoring when you have it to yourself because it’s smooth packed dirt. Since the stay at home time began I have ironically been spending more time outdoors than ever in my life.  I have this dog, Sulu.  He’s a miniature poodle, but a stereotype busting little dog.  I got him to do agility with, and made a common newbie mistake by searching out a dog with lots more drive than my first dog.   So, yeah, he’s got a lot of “go” and also “big feelings” and I knew leash walks in the city were not going to keep him calm for the duration. So I made it my mission to seek out legal off leash areas in the greater Boston area that new not too crowded. As I was out and about I kept seeing these trail markers for the BCT.   Curious, I looked it up and found that the Bay Circuit Trail is the “outer Emerald Necklace” for the Boston area, over 230 miles of trail in an arc from the North Shore to the South Shore.
