Welcome to Susan's Bay Circuit Diary! This blog follows my adventures with my dog Sulu hiking the Bay Circuit Trail. Feel free to subscribe (see the little "subscribe" oval above). So orderly today! Yesterday I went from C to D, today I went from B to C. B is the first waypoint after Walden Pond. Walden Pond being such a popular destination (culture *and* recreation in one conveniently located spot!) the parking frequently maxes out on summer days and the towns around it are very strict about casual parking around the park. “No Walden Pond Parking” signs are common in Concord, for example.

Point B is located less than half a mile from the Walden Pond entrance and even though there are conservation areas adjacent to Walden, they don’t have parking because of Walden parking concerns. Sigh. So I parked at Walden to start the trail today even though they are dog-hostile. Upside for me - they have preferential e-car parking with free charging. I was able to slip through the parking lots on the way out unnoticed, but was rebuked by a ranger on my way back to the car. She was not impressed by my excuses. FYI, at Walden, the coronavirus both gives and takes: parking is free, but half the lots are blocked off to reduce capacity. Sulu and I had a very pleasant stroll over wooded hills to the bike bridge. We saw only a handful of people and he was able to enjoy some off-leash time.

The scenic highlight was probably the Gropius house in Lincoln, although it’s on a street with some other pretty cool modern houses.
